Lieber Martin.

Nach 14 tägicher (=tägiger) Pause erhielt heute deinen Bf. 147 und sah hieraus, dass du eifrig am Ladensuchen bist, hoffentlich schlägt es dir zum Guten ein! Hast du eigentlich mal mit deinem jetzigen Chef über deine Absicht mal gesprochen, oder hat dies keinen Werth? Viellicht kann er dir Ratschläge geben, zumal du ihm doch keine Concurrenz machen willst. Ich habe dich jetzt schon so oft gefragt, ob du das Geschenk von Berthel erhalten hast, aber noch nie hast du mir diese Frage beantwortet, so dass annehmen muss, dass sie es für sich behalten hat. Hast du das Hemd von Siegfr. erhalten, was er dir vor seiner Abreise und von hier geschickt (hat)? Ebenso möchte auch gerne wissen, ob du dein Paket Wäsche sowie deine Chocolade empfangen hast.

Gestern war (ich) in Bad Nauheim und besuchte Herrn Sternberg mit dem voriges Jahr dorten zusammen war und der auch öfter mit Onkel Sal(omon) zusammen war. Er zeigte mir eine Karte von Sal.(omon), die ihm gestern von zu Hause nachgeschickt bekam. Sage Onkel Sal., dass Sternberg bei Flörsheim(er?) wohnt, wenn er ihm schreiben will.

Am amerikan. Consulat war seitdem nicht mehr, da ich doch gern abwarten möchte, ob Wetzlers was für uns tun können. Am letzten Mittwoch beim Notar in G(ross)G(erau), wo der Ac(k)t von dem Acker von Job, den für Mk 3300 verkaufte, gemacht wurde. Die Genehmigung muss jedoch abgewartet werden.

Heute früh war am Finanzamt hier und wollen sie mir das Geld, was an Sal(omon) und Job verlor nicht gutheissen, so dass (ich) es noch als Guthaben versteuern muss. Er sagte mir, Job könnte es mir ja, wenn ich mal drüben wäre, bezahlen; worauf ihm sagte, dies sei ausgeschlossen, er wäre froh, wenn er sich durchbrächte; aber alles scheint mir vergebens zu sein.

Den schönen Garten in G(ross)G(erau) musste diese Woche für Mk 400 hergeben, statt Mk 1200. So kommt man von Allem. Ohne mehr für heute sei herzl. geküsst von deinem Vater.

I received your letter No 147 after two weeks of getting nothing and from it I learned that you are looking for a shop – hopefully it will bring you much success! Have you already spoken about this with your boss, or does that make no sense? Perhaps he can advise you, since you are not competing with him. I have now been asking you so many times whether you received the present from Berthel, and got no answer, that I must think she kept it for herself. Have you received the shirt from Siegfried that he sent you before his travels? I would also like to know if you received your package with the chocolate and the shirt. Yesterday I was in Badn Nauheim to see Mr Sternberg with whom I had spent time last year and who had been often together also with with Uncle Sal. He showed me a card from Sal that was forwarded to him from his home. Tell Uncle Sal that Sternberg is now staying with Flörsheim(er?), if he wants to write him.

I did not go to the American consulate. I want to wait and see if the Wetzler’s can do something for us. Last Wednesday I went to see the notary in Gross Gerau where the document was made up about the 3300 Mark, the sales price of Job’s land. We have to wait for the permission.

Today I was in the tax office: they do not want to write off the money I lost because of Salomon and Job, so I will end up paying tax for it. The taxman said Job could give me the money once I am over there; I said this was out of the question, Job would be happy if he could make ends meet; it is all pointless.

I had to sell the beautiful garden in GG got 400 Marks, instead of 1200. All goes lost. Nothing more for today, warm kisses from your father.
