My dear Martin Heute empfangen Brief 4 + 5 + freuten uns sehr nur Gutes daran zu entnehmen + hoffe daß deine Erkältung wieder vorbei ist, denn in U.S.A. hat man dort nicht lange Zeit krank zu sein. Solange du noch keine Arbeit findest, helfe ja Onkel Max im Geschäft recht tüchtig mit, damit du einstweilen dem Vorgeschmack bekommst. Mit den Zeilen von Max habe mich sehr gefreut + rate ich dir ja dessen Anordnungen + Rathschlagen zu folgen, da ich weiß daß Max nur dein Bestes will. Ich werde heute Abend noch an ihn schreiben. Ebenso an Alice + Hellmuth. Mit Hellmuths Eltern habe soeben gesprochen + Ihnen gesagt, wie nett sie alle zu dir waren, sie wollen uns bald besuchen. Betreff deiner geschäftl. Anfragen, kann dir nichts besonderes berichten. Die Bilanz ist so ausgefallen wie ich es mir dachte + schicke dir demnächst eine Abschrift. Am Samstag waren bei August Hirsch in Frankfurt + haben deine diversen Sachen mitgegeben. Sie reisen heute in Frankfurt ab + am Freitag ab Havre mit Dampfer Bremen. Das Geld für die Ski habe erhalten, das für die Stiefel bekomme nächste Woche + der Photo ging zurück. Dein Bf der am 8ten in Chic. abging war heute Mittag hier + da ich in der Zeitung las, daß am ??? ein Luftschiff abgeht, wollte dir auch mal [einen] Bf per Luft schicken. Sonst weiß für heute [nichts] zu berichten. Grüße ernstweilen Max + Käthchen [und sei] du vielmals geküßt von deinem Vater

My dear Martin [in English],

Today we received letters 4 + 5 and were very excited to see that it's all good news + hope that your cold has passed because in the U.S. you're not allowed to be sick for very long. As long as you still cannot find work, be diligent about helping Uncle Max in the business, so you get a taste of such work for the time being. I was very happy to get the lines from Max + I advise you to follow his instructions + suggestions, as I know Max only wants the best for you. Later this evening I'll write to him. Also to Alice + Hellmuth. Just spoke to Hellmuth's parents and told them how nice they all were to you, and they want to visit us soon. On the subject of your inquiries about business, I can't report much of note. The balance sheets broke down the way I thought, and I'll soon send you a copy. On Saturday we were at August Hirsch's in Frankfurt and have handed over your assorted things. They are leaving today from Frankfurt and then from Le Havre on Friday aboard the SS Bremen. I received the money for the skis, and will get money for the boots next week, and the photo's going back. Your letter sent on the 8th from Chicago arrived here today around noon, and since I read in the paper that on the [ ] an airship left, I also wanted to send you a letter via airmail. Beyond that I don't have anything else to report. In the meantime give my best to Max + Käthchen and many kisses for you from your Father.
